Chasing the Golden Light

Related Articles

When I’m in the field, nature always has something interesting. Nature is unpredictable. In this article, I’ve included photos of landscapes, sunrises, and sunsets I took while seeking golden light.

French novelist Marcel Proust said, “The real voyage of discovery is having new eyes.” This is what makes a photographer different from tourists. A photographer often sees what others don’t.He observes what others ignore. He is the one who sees simple landscapes coming to life. How many tourists get up to watch the sunrise?. How many of them wait hours at the beach for 5 minutes of sunset?. Probably, no one except a photographer.

Landscape photography

We think of sunrise or sunset when we think about landscape photography (i.e., the golden hour). Golden hour skies, patterns, and light play are hard to discover at other times of day. To be on time is not enough for a photographer. He has to place himself at the best possible position to get that perfect light. But the better truth is that there are many times when we climb up the hill and position ourselves in the best possible position, but we end up with nothing. The real photographer is the one who never gives up, as the famous and legendary photographer Ansel Adams once said, “Landscape photography is the supreme test of the photographer and often the supreme disappointment.”
