Sri Kumbumbha Bhagwati Temple is a temple in Kodungallur in Thrissur district. It is also known as the World Temple. Kodungallur Temple is the first of its kind in Kerala. People consider it the Mother Goddess of the 64 Kali Kailas. Bhadrakali or Mahakali the famous Bhagavathi, Kodungalluramma is famous in Kerala. Moreover, people claim that Kodungallur was the first temple in Kerala to worship Bhadrakali, the unparalleled Parabrahmas Purus.
Practitioners have applied numerous tantric techniques to this. There are many Bhagavathy temples and kumbukkavas that are present in Kerala today. People know Kodungalluramma as one of the four deities dedicated to Lord Parasurama. They believe that Bhagwati came to save Kerala from pestilence and other dangers.The temple is famous for its Bhagavatam, but the main goddess is Lord Shiva. Religious devotees believe that if there is a visit here, there will be no epidemic, distress and marital disputes.
Devotees regard the Kodungallur Bhagavad and the Thalappoli Mahotsava as the main celebrations, often referred to as acts of “devil’s devotion.” Cheran Chenkuppuvan, who ruled Kerala from Kodungallur, built the temple for the first time. People knew Veeranayaka Kannaki, the grandson of Padmanabhaswamy, as Padiyavathi for his devotion to Padmavathi Devi, the parish priest of Parshvanathagan. The authorities have changed the parish priest of Parshvanathagan, a temple dedicated to Lord Cheruvanadu, many times.
