The majority of Drongos are short-legged, black or dark-grey birds that stand erect when perched. Some of them have intricate tail ornaments, and their tails are forked. They consume insects and small birds that they catch either on the ground or in flight. Some species have a range of alarm cries that other animals and birds frequently respond to, and they are skilled mimics.

Bold Stare Perched on a tree, the drongo keeps watch.

The drongo is known to scare other animals away from food by making fictitious alarm calls. Typically, these insectivorous birds can be found in bushes or open forests. They resemble shrikes and sit fairly straight when perched due to their small legs. In a nest high in a tree, two to four eggs are placed. They are aggressive and fearless despite their small size, and if their nests or young are in danger, they will assault much larger species.
