Asian brown flycatcher

A small passerinebird belonging to the Muscicapidae family of flycatchers is the Asian brown flycatcher (Muscicapa dauurica). The length of this species, including the cocked tail, is 13 cm (5.1 in). Though comparatively longer-tailed, it has a similar form to the larger spotted flycatcher.

Focused Silence The Asian brown flycatcher stands still, observing carefully.

The dark bill has a broad base and is somewhat massive. The adult has whitish underparts with brown-tinged sides and grey-brown upperparts that becoming greyer as the plumage ages. The head, breast, and upperparts of young birds are scaly brown. It lays four eggs in a tree hole, which the female then incubates. During courtship, the male Asian brown flycatcher sings a straightforward melody.
