The art of automotive cinematography with expert-led classes, practical learning, and hands-on experience at Creative Hut Institute.

On 2nd May 2024, the Creative Hut Institute of Photography and Film conducted an enriching class on automotive photography and videography for its 17th batch students. Led by the expert Mr. Ahamed Shaheen S, the session aimed to introduce the fundamentals and techniques essential for creating stunning visual content featuring vehicles.

The rich session started with an overview of the basic concepts, showing the value of concept development and careful planning. Students understood about the various types of frames, how to utilise them effectively, and how each frame improves the overall narrative and visual impact of the film. Mr. Ahamed Shaheen explained the specifics of lighting in both indoor and outdoor settings. He gave an example of how well-chosen lighting can turn an ordinary shot into an impressive one too.

Practical learning was a key component of the workshop. Students engaged in hands-on shooting sessions, capturing the essence of a vehicle in both indoor and outdoor settings. This practical exercise provided invaluable insights into real-world challenges and the necessary corrections during both shooting and editing phases. By experiencing these processes first-hand, students learned to adapt quickly and make critical decisions to enhance their output. 

Our project team focused on showcasing the unique features of a vehicle through a blend of indoor and outdoor shots. Our technical skills were improved by the practical sessions, which also helped us gain a better knowledge of the artistic and practical components of automobile automotive filmmaking. The class ended with a quick session in editing, which taught us how to quickly and effectively edit our film. 

Overall, the class provided an in-depth introduction to the field of Automotive visual art. It gave a strong foundation and encouraged self-assurance in our capacity to create visual content showing dynamic beauty of automobiles. We gained insight as well as motivation from the session. We also learned the skills to photograph automobiles’ dynamic beauty.
