Southeast Asia and the Indian Subcontinent are home to the black-headed cuckooshrike. Cuckooshrikes are arboreal birds that range in size from medium to small, and they are typically long and slender. Cuckooshrikes are typically found in small family groups, in pairs, and alone. They will eat big, hairy caterpillars and are primarily insectivorous. They have also been observed consuming some fruit, seeds, and other plant material, as well as small animals.

Vigilant Watch On its perch, the cuckoo shrike remains alert and watchful.

In species that do not migrate, cuckooshrikes keep their territorial boundaries throughout the year. Cuckooshrikes are monogamous, and their pair ties seem to endure all year long. Black-headed Cuckoo Shrikes typically breed during the monsoon, also called the rainy season, which falls between June and September in most places. Woodland or forested areas are where the Black-headed Cuckoo Shrike builds its nest in the tree canopy.
