Photography is an illusion where a tiny fraction of time is stretched into infinity
Chronostasis is the illusion of an extended time. An example of this illusion is known as the stopped-clock illusion, in which the second hand of an analogue clock appears to stay stationary for longer than normal while glancing at it for the first time.
Frozen Ear : Splash in the shape of an ear.
Freezing movement is also an illusion. The illusion is that, when a moment is frozen, whenever we look at that moment again, even though that moment was a tiny fraction of time, we are stretching that time to infinity. Capturing motion is a technique in photography, that can be done with a slow shutter as well as a fast shutter.
Face Illusion : A frozen splash gives the illusion of a face.
Rose bud : Splash in the shape of a rose bud.
Capturing motion can communicate a sense of speed, activity, and passage of time. A slow shutter will give the motion a blur, which can be used to create the motion effect. They are used to give a dynamic look to the photos.
Stardust : A resemblance to the milkyway galaxy
Splashed : Fast shutter used to freeze the water splash
In motion : Slow shutter show the motion of water splash
Panning photos make use of this effect, where the background is blurred and the subject in motion is in focus. A fast shutter freezes the motion, and the moving subject is captured in the motion. Here, the subject will be in perfect focus.
Chroma : intermixing of blue and green hues.
Dissolved : Ink dissolving in water.
The photos will be less dynamic, but this technique allows us to capture that tiny fraction of a second. This technique can be used to show some of the most amazing moments, like that of a bird catching its prey. Water splashes, spinning balls, etc. make use of this technique. The chapter “Chronostasis” deals with this illusion of time. Various techniques, such as water splashing, spinning balls, etc., have been employed.
