There are various types of culture on Indian tradition. Classical dances are one of them. In Indian tradition there is a diverse type of classical dance culture and the traditional and cultural dances are regional. Additionally classical dance has taken a major part in Indian cultural dance and it influences the Indian society. Bharatnatyam has taken a major part of Indian classical dance. It include music and recital in local language or Sanskrit the classical language.


Essence of Indian Classical Dance
It has originated in Tamil Nadu. Bharatnatyam is a solo dance, primarily performed by women. Moreover, it is a creative dance that manifests with music and rhythm. As a result, it serves as an amazing revelation of tradition. Furthermore, this classical dance beautifully exposes the themes of South Indian culture and spiritual essence. Specifically, it emphasizes Shaivism. Additionally, Bharatnatyam has its theoretical base in the ancient Sanskrit text written by Bharat Muni. Notably, it is the oldest classical dance tradition of Indian culture. In fact, the dance is marked by references in the ancient Tamil epic, Silappatikaram. This dance is entirely based on the movement of the upper torso, bent legs, and knees. Moreover, it is closely associated with intricate footwork, hand movements, and expressive eye gestures, which form vital elements of this classical custom. Furthermore, it involves a lengthy and dedicated learning process, encompassing the coordination of hands, legs, and eyes. Consequently, this traditional classical dance has gained fame all over the world.
