Elegance is the quality of being graceful. The color that symbolizes elegance perfectly is the color brown. Hence the color theme of this book is shades of brown. Brown is usually seen by people as a dull or boring color, that is because brown color usually represents reality as it is. There are no exaggerations. Just as photography is the reflection of reality, brown also is the symbol of reality. It entertains common sense over daydreams.
Brown is a warm color that stimulates appetite. It can be used in place of black to bring warmth to the color palette. It makes our mind more peaceful and stable. It also represents nature and earth and is also the color of healing. This is the reason why brown is chosen as the color theme of this book. Brown is a color that most people take for granted. It is an unnoticed and underrated color. Brown is one of the least favourite color of most people. Maybe because the color is a reflection of reality, which most people do not like.
In this book, I have taken photos under different categories of commercial photography namely, food, product, and jewelry. I have tried to create a separation of background and subject just by using light and not color. You can see various tones and shades of brown in this book ranging from dark brown to beige. Lighting is the key element in each photo. It is what creates the mood of the image, and the color creates the tone. So I hope that this book will make the viewers’ mind at peace, just like the color brown does.
