Depiciting Kerala’s art & culture

Mahatma Gandhi says,

“A Nation’s culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of it’s people”

Kerala, as seen by myself, it is not only know for it’s green scenic beauty. But also famous for it’s Art and culture. I have explored Kerala in many anderent ways. It has everything like, beautiful different hil-stations, tea plantations, amazing beaches, harbor, old temples and churches, backwaters and many more which is really a true feast for everyone’s eyes. But I want to say that, Kerala’s Art and Culture completes it. It happens throughout the year where we can see all types of culture and festivals they celebrate with harmony. The list of the Kerala’s Art and Culture goes on and on.

Goddes mask on a man

Expressions of Kerala

Some of the Art and Culture I have experienced here are Kathakali, Athachamayam, Pulikali, Kumatikali and Theyyam. Artiste who plays the role is the one who tells the story. Every facial expression he makes has a meaningful story behind it. Their expressions put outs the emotion of that role they are playing. It is very hard to understand those emotions unless, we know the story already. In this article I have shown some of these faces which are masked and painted to represent different role plays of different art and culture. It takes hours to make up and come in front of audience and to tell the story.

Expressions unparalleled

The hidden emotion

Each region in this world has it’s own distinct culture, largely borrowed from the religions that followed there. Kerala has a mix of Hindus, Christians and Muslims. And these religious groups have always lived in brotherhood and harmony. Almost every art and culture in Kerala contains the folk art forms, and colorfully dressed artists with masks. The people get together at certain places and celebrate without any religious bias. Huge crowd excites a photographer to take the photographs in different angles. It helps to neglect t the tiredness and concentrate on capturing the photos with perfect frames.

A Paradise of Art, Culture, and Natural Beauty

After traveling throughout Kerala, I not only experienced not only rich greenery and beautiful backwaters, but Kerals’s Art and Culture which I think is very important for a traveler to know. After I have seen Kerala, I can say for a lover of art, drama, dance and folk arts Kerala is heaven. As an artist I loved every bit of Kerala. As I have said before it all depends on a man how he sees the – things. I see Heaven in Kerala. The place where cultural and festival celebrations go on through out the year with harmony and peace, there is no doubt they call Kerala as “God’s own Country”.
