Everything that is modern comes from old and everything that’s old getting transformed into modern things. What is world without traditionalism and modernity, these two might sound opposite but they always come together in everything sometimes you can see that and sometimes you cannot.

You might have heard from your parents or your elders that the old traditions are coming back with a little modern twist. So, everything that was, is still is. MELANGE , the name of my portfolio book indicates a varied mixture of old and modern things. The modern products we use, the modern food we eat or the  modern clothes we wear , everything comes from old ingredients, recipes and traditions.

Through Melange I tried to portray how everything we use is modern as well as old and how nothing gets forgotten, in a way or another it always comes back. It is quite rightly said that ‘Old things never go out of style.’

Being an average student in studies and always a person wanting something out of the box in life my B.com degree didn’t interest me like photography does. Photography for me is not just about capturing things that please my eyes. But rather, it is all about portraying a impactful story through my pictures that can force the viewers to live in it, to think about it and to never forget it. Smriti Rai is one the best lady product photographer in Madhya Pradesh, India.

Faces of people, streets of cities and architecture of countries fascinate me, compel me to tell their stories through my pictures. My journey of being a photographer is no different, I started photography as a mere hobby but decided to turn my passion into my profession in the hope that the photographs I click can make a little difference in this pretentious world.
