The medium-sized rose-ringed parakeet (Psittacula krameri) belongs to the Psittacula genus and Psittacidae family. People sometimes call it the ring-necked parakeet, ringneck parrot (in aviculture), or Kramer parrot. Its natural ranges in Africa and the Indian subcontinent are distinct. Resilient in the face of urbanization and deforestation, it is one of the few parrot species that has successfully evolved to live in disturbed ecosystems.

Calm Presence Calm tropical morning with parrot feeding peacefully.
Due to their popularity as pets, runaway birds have taken over several towns worldwide, notably those in Northern and Western Europe. In addition to surviving cold winters in Northern Europe, they can thrive in a wide range of conditions outside of their natural area. Sexually, the rose-ringed parakeet is dimorphic. The hen and juvenile birds of both sexes either have no neck rings or have shadow-like, pale to dark grey ones, while the adult male wears a pink and black neck ring. In the wild, both sexes are recognizable for their green color with a red beak and blue tail.
