The Pycnonotidae family of bulbuls includes the yellow-browed bulbul (Acritillas indica), often known as the golden-browed bulbul. It can be found in Sri Lankan and southern Indian woodlands. The yellow-browed bulbul has a noticeable yellow brow and is primarily yellow on the underside and olive above. Although their loud calls make them easy to find, they usually hide among the leaves beneath the forest canopy. The underparts of this bulbul are completely yellow, while the upper parts are olive-green with a noticeable yellow brow and goggle. It is around 20 cm (7.9 in) long and lacks a crest.

The plumage of the sexes is the same. The iris is reddish brown, while the bill is black. Yellow-browed bulbuls make loud calls and are typically encountered in pairs or small groups. Their primary food sources are insects and berries. The dry period preceding the monsoon season, which typically lasts from January to May, is the breeding season. The nest consists of a cup constructed in a low fork that is lined with fine root fibers and has an exterior coated in moss and cobwebs that resembles a huge white-eye nest. The nest is constructed in about a week, and the eggs are incubated for roughly 13 days. The eggs have reddish-brown speckles and are either white or pale pink. The nestlings fledge after roughly 13 days, and the eggs hatch simultaneously. Berries, soft insects, and caterpillars are fed to nestlings.
